Imperial Palace

Until 1918 the Imperial Palace was the political centre of the Austrian monarchy. Here Emperor Joseph II drew up his revolutionary programme of reforms, the Congress of Vienna met and danced and Emperor Franz Joseph held audiences. Today it houses not only the offices of the Federal President, the ministers of the chancellor´s office and the secretaries of state but also the Imperial Apartments, the Imperial Silver Collection and the Sisi Museum - three absolute must-sees for tourists.

  1. I came by to welcome you to the CDP community and ended up reading all of your posts! Austria is such a culturally and historically rich country, and I see it as being such a lofty city in my mind. It would be very interesting to see it from your eyes, and I am definitely looking forward to reading more of your posts. Welcome!

Oh, and this is such a magnificent palace! You really have to enlarge the photo to appreciate it. The sculptures in front seem to be quite violent though.
