Krapfen

Krapfen are traditional Austrian carnival sweets: doughnuts made from sweet yeast dough fried in fat or oil, the "classical" Krapfen is filled with marmelade or jam with powdered sugar on top. There can also be different fillings (e.g. plum butter, vanilla cream) and toppings as you can see in this photo. Today is the last day of carnival, the last possibility to indulge in these sweets...

  1. I don't usually go for what we've got on this side of the Atlantic, but that sounds delicious! And I think this is the first I've heard of plum butter.
